인천광역시지부(지부장:김보경)는 5월 11일 인천시 동구청에서 주최하는 화도진축제 다문화 장기자랑대회에 참가하여 인기상을 수상하였다.

인천광역시지부 다문화 풍물단 ‘아주’는 2011년 세계평화여성연합 지부특성화사업으로 2년간 지원을 받아 시작되었으며 2013년에는 회원들이 회비와 공연을 통하여 강습료를 마련하여 꾸준히 운영하고 있다.

4월에는 무료급식소와 청라지구 노인복지회관, 5월에는 화도진축제에서 길거리 공연을 하였고, 5월25일 은혜병원에서 위문공연을 실시하는 등 매월 공연을 통하여 나눔 봉사활동을 실천하고 있다.

인천지부는 공연을 통하여 다문화 가정들이 한국문화를 더 깊이 이해하고 수용하면서 자녀들을 교육하는데 있어서 긍정적인 영향을 주고 있고, 더불어 세계평화여성연합 인천시지부의 활동을 알리고 있다.

The Incheon Branch wins the Popularity Award at the Hwadojin Festival Multicultural Talent Contest

The Incheon Branch (Branch Leader: Bo Gyeong Kim) participated in the Hwadojin Festival Multicultural Talent Contest hosted by the Incheon East District Office on May 11, and won the popularity award.

The multicultural Korean musical instruments team of the Incheon Branch, ‘Aju’, was begun in 2011 as the specialized branch project of the Incheon Women’s Federation for World Peace in 2011, and after the first two years, during which they received financial support, from 2013 the members have continued to run the program by preparing lesson fees, collecting membership fees and performance fees.

In April, they performed at the Free Meal Service Center and at the Cheongra District Senior Citizens’ Welfare Center, in May they gave a street performance at the Hwadojin Festival, and on May 25 they also gave a consolatory performance at the Eunhye Hospital. Thus, they are practicing sharing and service by giving monthly performances.

Through these performances, multicultural families in the Incheon Branch are coming to understand and accept Korean culture on a deeper level, and they are also positively influenced in the education of their children. At the same time, these performances are also making the activities of the WFWP Incheon Branch widely known in the region.
