대구지부(지부장 조순선)는 2013 지부 특성화사업으로 운영 중인 ‘천화당 검도반’이 미국 독립기념일인 지난 7월 4일 미군부대인 캠프 워커에서 검도 시범경기를 선보였다.

우중인데도 불구하고 맨발의 투혼을 펼친 30여명의 멋진 시범에 함께한 많은 관객들이 감동하여 많은 박수를 받았다.

또한 6월 30일 ~ 7월 7일에는 ‘지구가족사랑 1%운동’을 위한 바자회를 대구지부 내에서 진행했다. 1층에서는 회원들이 기증해주신 아나바다를 중심으로 헌 옷, 구두, 책, 각종 생필품 위주로, 4층 식당에서는 간식, 건강식품 및 각종 장류를 판매하였다. 특별히 7월 3일(수) 에는 대구시에서 주관하는 다문화가정 교육이 본 관 강당에서 있어서 여성연합에서 진행하는 ‘지구가족사랑 1%운동’을 홍보하는 기회가 되었다.

Daegu Branch

The ‘Cheon Hwa Dang Kendo Class’, which is run by Daegu Branch (Branch Leader: Soon Seon Cho) as their 2013 Specialized Branch Project, performed a Kendo exhibition at Camp Walker of the US Army Base located in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, on Thursday, July 4, which was the American Independence Day.

In spite of the rain, the thirty or so participants performed with bare feet, and the audience was much impressed by their wonderful exhibition and applauded them loudly.

In addition, from June 30 to July 7, they held a bazaar for the ‘1% Love Share Project’ within Daegu Branch. On the first floor, they mainly sold used articles of clothing, shoes, books, daily necessities that had been donated by the members, centering on the campaign to economize, to share, to exchange, and to reuse. In the cafeteria on the fourth floor, snacks, health food, and all sorts of sauces were sold. In particular, on July 3 (Wednesday), the Multicultural Families Workshop hosted by Daegu City was held in the lecture hall of the same building, which provided an opportunity for the Branch to PR the ‘1% Love Share Project’ promoted by the WFWP.
