(사)세계평화여성연합 문난영 회장이 민간통일운동을 통하여 국가사회 발전에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 ‘통일운동 유공자 국민포장’ 전수식에서 국민포장을 수상하는 영광을 안았다.

지난 5월16일 통일부 강당에서 개최된 국민포장 전수식은 류길재 장관(통일부)을 대신하여 김남식 차관이 국민포상 2명,  대통령상 2명, 국무총리상 4명을 시상했으며, 본 연합 문난영 회장(민화협 공동의장)은 민간차원의 통일운동 유공자로 선정되어 '국민포장'을 수상했다.

이날 아쉽게도 문난영 회장은 프랑스 파리에서 열린 제17차 중동여성평화회의 의장으로 참석 중이어서 최영선 사무총장이 대리 참석하여 수상했다.

President Lan Young Moon of the Women’s Federation for World Peace Awarded the ‘Civil Merit Medal’ for Meritorious Contribution to a Nongovernmental Unification Movement

President Lan Young Moon of the Women’s Federation for World Peace had the honor of being awarded the Civil Merit Medal at the presentation ceremony of the ‘Civil Merit Medal for Meritorious Contribution to the Unification Movement’, in recognition of her great contribution to the development of this nation and society through a nongovernmental unification movement.

The presentation ceremony of the Civil Merit Medal was held in the Auditorium of the Ministry of Unification on May 16 and, on behalf of Minister Gil Jae Ryu (Ministry of Unification), Vice-Minister Nam Shik Kim presented the Civil Merit Medal to two awardees, the Presidential Award to two awardees, and the Prime Minister’s Award to four awardees. President Lan Young Moon (Co-Chairperson of the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation) of the WFWP was chosen as a meritorious contributor towards the unification movement on the nongovernmental level and was awarded the ‘Civil Merit Medal’.

On this day, unfortunately, President Lan Young Moon was attending the 17th Women’s Conference for Peace in the Middle East being held in Paris, as the Conference Co-chair, and so Secretary-General Young Sun Choi attended the ceremony and received the Medal on her behalf.
