구리지부(공동지부장:채미호, 아미오 미찌에)는 2월 18일 구리지부 강당에서 회원 40 여명이 참석한 가운데 2월 활동 보고 및 동지부별 현황 및 활동 방향에 관하여 발표하는 시간을 갖고, ‘지구가족사랑1%운동’ 기금마련을 위한 떡국 떡과 한과 사업을 실시하였다.

3월 3일에는 구리시 여성단체협의회에서 20여명의 회원을 대상으로 실시한 한국형 표준 자살 예방 프로그램 ‘보고, 듣고, 말하기’ 과정을 수료한 후 2인 1조로 팀을 구성하여 구리시 관내 상담이 필요한 사람들에게 밀착 상담활동을 시작할 예정이다. 구리시 지부에서 채미호 지부장 외 5명이 수료하였다.

3월 5일에 덕양지부(지부장:윤순림)에서는 지부장을 중심하고 5명의 회원들이 함께 성사2동 노인회관에서 해피헬스 봉사를 실시하였다. 어르신들께 여러 이야기를 하면서 배꼽 안북마사지와 해피헬스를 해드렸다.

남양주지부(공동지부장:신기화, 노양숙)는 지역 노인정에 찾아가 이발봉사와 청소봉사를 해드리며 지역 어르신을 돕고 있다. 지난 3월 6일에는 신기화 공동지부장(남양주) 통일부 장관상을 수상했다.

의정부지부(지부장:임현순)는 2014년 2월 9일 유니버설 아트센터에서 개최된 ‘2014 다복 페스티발’ 행사에 의정부 여성연합 자녀들로 구성된 다문화 선학오케스트라가 참가하였다. 처음으로 큰 무대에서 연주한 아이들은 긴장과 함께 기쁜 마음으로 참석하였으며 다음번에는 더 많은 향상된 실력으로 무대에 서고 싶다는 의지를 전했다. 이번 행사에 퐁당퐁당, Over the rainbow 2곡을 연주하였다.

일산지부(지부장:김나영)는 행주대접기념제에 일산지부와 덕양지부가 함께 참석했다. 이 행사는 행주산성 행주대접기념제는 올해 제421주년을 맞고 있으며 여성연합에서는 12년째 참석하고 있다. 이날 참석한 일산지부와 덕양지부 회원들은 향을 피웠으며 참석한 일본 여성연합 회원들은 사죄의 마음으로 평화를 기원 했다. 행주산성(사적 제56호)은 임진왜란 3대첩지로 충장공 권율 도원수가 아군 3천여 명으로 왜적 3만에 맞서 싸워 대승을 거둔 역사의 현장으로 행주 얼이 깃든 호국성지다.

청심지부(지부장:박영자)는 2월 1일~2월 24일, 주2회 지역주민을 위한 미용, 마사지, 레크레이션 등 봉사활동을 진행했다. 최호문 부지부장이 가평군내의 초·중·고에서 예절강의 및 다문화사회 조성발전에 크게 기여하여 경기도지사로부터 유공표창을 수상했으며, 이임선 공동지부장은 설악면의 노인들을 대상으로 자살방지 생명존중 강의를 매월 실시해온 공로를 인정받아 생명사랑가호 도우미상을 가평군 정신건강증진센터장으로 부터 수상하였다.

화도지부(지부장:권선화)는 2월 9일 ‘불우 이웃 돕기 쌀 나누기’ 전달식을 동부희망케어센터에서 가졌다. 손자, 손녀를 혼자 키우고 있는 조손가정의 할아버지, 할머니를 선정하여 쌀을 전달하였다. 3월 22일에는 ‘다문화 가정 남편 봄 밥상을 위한 요리교실’을 실시했다. 이날 참석한 회원들은 봄날 남편을 위한 아구탕 요리를 배웠다.

금촌지부(지부장:한명희)는 2월 27일 다문화가정을 위한 ‘한국의 고추장 담그기’ 요리교실을 가졌다. 3월 10일에는 지역 성매매 근절 캠페인, 담배 근절 캠페인에 참석하여 교육을 받았으며, 3월 15일에는 지역 ‘평화통일 기원 연날리기’에 참석하였다.

The North Gyeonggi Branch

On February 18, the Guri Branch (Co-Branch Leaders: Mi Ho Chae, Mitsie Amio) held a session to present a report on the activities of February as well as onthe current situation of the Dong Branches and the direction of their activities at the Guri Branch lecture hall, with forty-some members in attendance. They also launched the rice-cake and Korean snacks project to raise funds for the ‘1% Love Share Project’. On March 3, the Guri Council of Women presented a suicide-prevention program standardized for Korea, titled the ‘Look, Hear and Speak’ course, for twenty-some participants. After completing the course, the participants plan to make teams of two each and to hold close counseling sessions for the residents of Guri who need counseling. From the Guri Branch, Branch Leader Mi Ho Chaeand five members have completed the course.

On March 5, the branch leader and five members of the Deokyang Branch(Branch Leader: Soon Rim Yoon) carried out a Happy Health treatment at the Seongsa-2-dong Elders’ Hall. While conversing with the senior citizens, they gave Navel An Bok massages and Happy Health treatment.

The Namyang Branch (Co-Branch Leaders: Gi Hwa Shin, Yang Sook Noh) is helping the local senior citizens by visiting local senior centers and carrying out a haircutting service and cleaning service. On March 6, Co-Branch Leader Gi Hwa Shin (Namyangju) was presented with the Minister of Unification Award.

The Multicultural Seonhak Orchestra of the Euijeongbu Branch (Branch Leader: Hyeon Soon Yim), consisting of the children of members of WFWP-Euijeongbu,, took part in the ‘2014 Many Blessings Festival’ held on February 9, 2014 at the Universal Arts Center. The children, who were performing on a big stage for the first time, took part with hearts mixed with anxiety and delight, and they expressed their resolution to perform onstage next time with much improved skill. At the event, they performed two songs, titled ‘Pongdang Pongdang’ and ‘Over the Rainbow’.

The Ilsan Branch (Branch Leader: Na Yeong Kim) and the Deokyang Branch participated in the ‘Great Battle of Haengju Commemoration’. This event, commemorating the Great Battle of Haengju of the Haengju Fortress, celebrated its 421st anniversary this year, and the WFWP has participated in it for 12 years. The members of the Ilsan Branch and the Deokyang Branch who attended the commemoration on this day lit incense, and the Japanese members of the WFWP who took part in the event prayed for peace with an apologetic heart. The Haengju Fortress (Historical Site no. 56) is the holy ground of national defense, where lies the spirit of Haengju, for it is the place where one of the three great battles in the Imjin War took place and the scene of the history of how Noble Patriot General Yul Gwon, the provincial administrator, won a great victory in a battle fought against 30,000 Japanese soldiers with only 3,000 soldiers.

The Cheongshim Branch (Branch Leader: Yeong Ja Park) carried out a volunteer service for local residents including haircutting, massage, and recreation, twice a week from February 1 to February 24. Deputy Branch Leader Ho Moon Choi was awarded a Certificate of Commendation for Merit by the Governor of Gyeonggi Province for giving etiquette classes at elementary, middle and high schools in Gapyeong-gun and for contributing greatly to creating and developing a multicultural society. In addition, Co-Branch Leader Yim Seon Lee was presented with the Helper and Guardian of Life and Love Award by the Director of the Gapyeong-gun Mental Health Center, in recognition of her meritorious service in giving lectures on preventing suicide and respecting life to the senior citizens of Seorak-myeon every month.

The Hwado Branch (Branch Leader: Seon Hwa Gwon) held the ‘Sharing Rice to Help our Needy Neighbors’ presentation ceremony at the East Hope Care Center on February 9. Grandfathers and grandmothers who are raising their grandsons and granddaughters by themselves were chosen to be presented with the rice donation. On March 22, they held a ‘Cooking Class to Set a Spring Table for the Husbands in Multicultural Families’. The members who took part on this day learned how to make anglerfish stew for their husbands in springtime.

The Geumchon Branch (Branch Leader: Myeong Hee Han) held a cooking class titled ‘Making Korean Hot Pepper Paste’ for multicultural families on February 27. On March 10, they attended an education program which was part of the campaigns to eradicate the local sex trade and to eradicate smoking, and on March 15 they took part in the local ‘Kite-flying in Prayer for Peace and Unification’ event.
